This iconic old signpost still stands on the junction of the Newlands to Buttermere road. I love it, and think they should all be replaced with these once again! Click on the picture to expand and explore.

Lying in a field, just under the road to Langdale from Ambleside near Chapel Stile, one finds these wonderful boulders that have become a magnet for local and visiting climbers alike. There is a little controversy with the site as it is now a designated English Heritage as an ancient monument of national importance. This follows the discovery of prehistoric "cup & ring" markings said to date back 2500 - 5000 years. However climbing, or as it's known here "bouldering", has not been banned and with a little respect from the climbing community all should be well for future climbers too. Canon EOS 5d Mk11; Canon EF 24-105 L IS USM Lens.

This is a wonderful photograph of a snow capped Blencathra reflected in Derwentwater. Winter is such an inspirational time for photographers as it's so often crispy and clear.
